In 2017 I started to play around with different colorful shapes. Square’s, circle’s, fantasy shapes. They could appear to be three dimensional or just flat, leaning into or on-top of each other or just floating around. A square could be just a square or a closed box or a box that is open and invite’s you to get in. A circle could be flat or round like a ball or planet or turn into a face or skull.
There is a hint of surrealism in the works and the subconscious took care of many of the shapes. The intention was to make paintings using different shapes and stacking them in such a way to it looks almost possible, like magic. There is movement and balance in the paintings and it is meant to look like there is balance, in the end it’s just 2 dimensional at that is very forgiving.
